OR Aqauarium as we know it. This is where are our day was spent. It was a little bit of a walk, but well worth it. They other buildings it was by were so cool and shaped very differently. The architecture is very different and unique, also I'm sure they have something to do with the exhibits inside of them as the aquarium was suppose to be waves, I think.
We saw tons and tons of different animals. To start this rant here is a collage of many pictures of us! At the dolphin tank, with the jelly fish, with the Sharks, the fish, and the scary fish from finding nemo. We are using cameras for our pictures and occasionally Luke does a sweet panoramic with his phone, but we have seen signs that say no selfie stick. Haha it is quite funny. We see them sold everywhere, and many people have them.
We even went to the Dolphin show... Twice. Hehe it was pretty cool to see, and Luke was a good sport about it. They are so fast and can push their trainers around which is so cool. They do backflips and front flips and wave, and swirl it's amazing. Would be so cool to train them, just watching the trainers and the hand jesters and the fact that they want the approval of them is so neat.
We have so many pictures of these incredible animals that I had to make collages just to fit most in. We saw jelly fish which actually are pretty neat, in a weird way. You can almost see through them and they have weird long tentacles that sometimes you don't see till they move. The top middle picture is of a tortuous, they aren't nearly as creeping as turtles are. But they are huge! Sea lions, starfish, crabs, and crocadiles.
Sea horses and a dragon fish. Belugas, sharks, walrus's and more! These creatures are amazing, and it is so interesting being able to see them in jail, as we don't get to see these types of fish often. Although watching some of these animals made me question if I really am an animal person or not. Which is sad, but these animals really incredible creatures.
We had such a great time learning and exploring what animals the ocean has to offer and how they live. We spent the better part of the day here. When we decided we were through we headed deeper into Valencia in the direction of the beach. Little did we know, this was actually quite the walk. A while later when we finally reached the beach we found a place to eat overlooking the sand and the ocean. A chilly breeze from the ocean but a great view.
We saw many people on the beach playing a number of sports. Ranging from volley, basketball(which was a first), soccer and a few others. Also the ages ranged a lot. I am not sure what kids normally do on a Thursday night in Valencia but this seems like a great option. Beach sports, how great it would be to have that so accessible and waiting for you.
We walked the hour back to home base and we were done, and so were our feet. We had a great day, and no matter what we did, the sun always found a way to to warm us. Our faces are definitely a little rosey. We have definitely enjoyed seeing many different sides of Valencia, as well as doing something a little different then the day to day sightseeing we normally do, and exploring that we have done so far. Valencia is a unique, old and diverse place.
On another note, Luke continues to get ripped off everywhere we go. By this I mean that he (for a number of years now) doesn't get to experience the food to its full extent. Because I say celiac they will, for instance, not bring the bread out as a starter, or change a dessert to something completely different for both of us. The poor just wants to eat normal food and enjoy the normalness that he keeps getting deprived of. This hasn't happened to often here, except with the bread, but many times at home it has and it is always in the back of our minds. Even with the small things.
A slightly different note but still relating to food. The restaurant we went to for dinner did an interesting substitution. We are not even remotely sure as to why they did this but I will be the last to complain about it. I ordered grilled chicken with grilled vegetables. I expected the chicken to be quite plain, but when they served the dish to me instead of vegetables there were fries on my plate. I am not sure what makes grilled vegetables contain gluten or wheat of any kind but hey I will take fries anytime. Especially when I make a conscious des ion not to order it, must be a sign if it comes anyways!
I gotta say though, my spices of choice, much to Luke's dismay, are garlic and onion. Anything with those flavours and I'm sold I will devour it. He was so excited when we got a spice rack because he could try to expand my horizons, which is working but only when he makes dinner because he is creative in that way. I really do enjoy the different meals and foods and flavouring over here, but I really just want a meal that is super onion and super garlicky, that is on the list to find, as it's been a while! Or a tuna sandwich. When we were in Galway I had a tuna sandwich and it was delicious, and I would like another.
Also another note about the aquarium, they have these different story events that you can do. Like sleeping in the tunnels, where the fish or sharks encircle you. Being a dolphin trainer for a day, which would be amazing! Speaking of that at the beginning of the show they said that they needed a volunteer to help and you got to touch the dolphin, to be chosen you had to be the best dancer. Luke quickly turns to me and asks me why I am not dancing, I said because I feel there would be some very mad parents, cause obviously my years of experience would help me win, and then he said that he would have a happy wife which means he would be happy. AWWWW! Haha if only this was something that actually would have been a possibility for me to win cause I would have been all over it.
We had a super fun day and look forward to moving on to Barcelona tomorrow. Our last Spanish city before entering into France.
And so the adventure continues...
