In The Blink of an Eye

Today was kind of a whirl wind. We made our way to Park Guell. Which is a crazy place, especially because it pretty much is a failed business venture. The original idea was the whole area would be a housing development, which it definitely didn't end up being at all. We went into Gaudis house that he lived in for 25 years, the only house on the property, that originally was a show home before he lived in it. There is much more that I could elaborate on but I am deciding to not go over board with the he history.

This is an apartment building that Gaudi re-did the whole outside as well as the interior, including some of the furnishings. He put so much time and effort into it. Including the higher up you go the darker the tiles in the main elevator stairwell get. The tour of Casa Batllo was pretty cool as you got a little visual on the screen of the audio guide that showed what it would look like fully furnished.

This is Park Guell. We even saw a real lizard, as we started walking up the staircase just past the lizard. We saw them cleaning the benches. As well as we saw them painting it. The buildings kinda look like who ville and it is so great. You can also get a great view of the city and the ocean. We even could see the mountain that we were on yesterday where the Olympic stadium was. Park Guell is on the side/top of a mountain in Barcelona. To walk there you have to go up and up the hill. We walked the whole thing yesterday as we were going to see it. Today, we took the metro to about half way up then started to walk. We came up a completely different day then we anticipated, but we managed to stumble upon a number of escalators beside a staircase, that just so happened to be in the exact direction we were headed. Ahhh it was great that we didn't have to walk the hill, or the stairs.

This is a great collage of Luke surfing in the waves of the tunnel. Sitting and peaking up over the bench. Chasing away the birds for me. Doing a Titanic pose over the rail, and last but not least putting his ever so awesome directional skills to work!

We had a great time at these sites seeing and learning and exploring. There is so much history here, and so many interesting things that Gaudi has put his mind and heart into.

Alright folks we actually saw a guy putting his elementary school music talent to work! He was playing the recorder in the tunnel going to the metro. I LOVE THIS! I think it is so awesome that he was doing this I don't know why. It's the recorder!!

Hehe we have definitely been getting sun everyday, as can be seen on our arms and faces. BUT this is my tan on my feet from the flats that I wear rotating with my runners. Haha it is quite funny. I have a little tan where my fit bit sits but nothing super crazy.

For Lunch Luke found a 100% gluten free place which was great! We shared a pizza and salad. Mmmmmm. Speaking of food I had an awesome pasta last night for dinner!! Was delicious!

So they have this 'go car' that you can rent. It looks like a bumper car, two wheels in the front and one in the back. You also have to wear helmets. It is pretty funny looking. We decided that we didn't want to rent them because they just don't seem safe somehow haha.

We have also been to a number of Disney stores on our trip which is super awesome! I can still nail all of the lyrics even though they are in Spanish and even though some don't even have lyrics. Haha cause I am silly.

We have enjoyed all the sights the Barcelona has to offer, including going back to get some chocolate covered strawberries, and seeing all the different architecture around. My recovering from being sick brain has been super scattered as we have been here and as I have been trying to write these, it has been a little more difficult and choppy sounding, so I apologize. It will get better I promise :) Barcelona is an incredible place.

We have a very long day ahead of us tomorrow of travelling up to Nice. We will be saying goodbye to whatever comfortablilty we know and getting into major language barrier. No more semi understanding a compilation of the 4 different dialects of Spanish, now we will be lost. Luke can remember some common phrases of French and I am sure that some will eventually start to come back to him as we are in France, but other wise it will be all new. YAHOO for adventuring.

As we were going to different places today we over heard a number of people say where they were from. Which is pretty cool cause we can either say we have been there or we are going there. Everytime you enter into a more touristy place. They always ask where you are from.

Everyone is always on a mission here. They walk in front of you to get on buses and trains and roads. But on side walks they move slowly. It is quite annoying. Especially because they are all very short and we are obviously not. They seem to walk slower.

Also back to the sleeping situation with the he separate comforters. I don't like it as I like to be a burrito when I sleep. Luke on the other hand loves it as he says he doesn't get in trouble for stealing covers from me :) hehe he doesn't actually get in troubles but he goes to sleep with no covers or just the sheet and ends up stealing them all because he wakes up and he is cold, so it is a battle of the blankets in our house. The other sort of bizarre thing is that their beds seem to be shorter then ours back home. We are often sleeping diagonal or with our legs bent somehow because we are touching the bottom of the bed, or our feet are hanging off the edge.

Haha well anyways, off to bed now.

And so the adventure continues...
