Travelling to Berlin

Well we have the usual things and people on board the train today. Token screaming child, the person who desperately needs a shower a number of weeks ago, and the inconsiderate person playing music through a speaker. Today we have the added bonus of listening to the Brit and the Scot talking about everything under the sun. It is actually quite interesting to listen to. They just met on the train and are very open and willing to talk about many a subject.   How do they get through a 6 hour train ride? Drink and talk the day away. And they say women talk to much.

Our train ride to Berlin is 6 hours, we decided that this is our max time we want to spend on a train. Similar to what it was from Nice to Paris. Makes for a bit of a long day but we make the best of it. Packed up our stuff and left our bags at the hotel for a little bit. We walked across the street and found a place to have breakfast. Eating an omelette at 1130 we figured they eat eggs for lunch so we must just be having an early lunch. From breakfast we stopped and picked up some ham, cheese and some apples to pair with our rice cakes and strop waffles. Then we grabbed our packs and caught a tram and made our way to Amsterdam central station. All in all though the ride didn't seem long and the time seemed to go by quick. We really weren't bored at all it was quite great.

We are considering the week ahead and looking into train rides for the week and we have decided not to go to Kraków anymore. This is disappointing because Auchwitz is not far from it, it was the only reason we were going to Kraków, and that it is on my list of places to go to. But it looks like there are far to many stops and it must be a slow train because from Berlin it would take 8 hours to get there. So we have decided that there is better use of our time. So unsure of where we will go but we will add a few days in Germany along the way to Prague. But it makes the most sense, after all it gives something to go back to and this is an adventure after all.

We ended up making it to Berlin, and it was a massive station, multi floors and trains going in 2 different directions. It was crazy. We figured out how to get to our hotel. Turns out we are staying in the gay district. Luckily we aren't in the heart of it, but we figured this out because of the bar next door says it flat out, otherwise we probably would not have noticed. Not unsafe, just awkward.

We went to the local Lidl and picked up some salad and iced tea. And by that time it was 930 and almost time for bed. Our beds are comfy by the pillows are huge! Put two normal sized pillows together side by side and that's the size of these pillows.

Anyways we shall see what our day tomorrow holds. Berlin in certainly not a walking city, made for cars that's for sure. A full few days ahead.

And so the adventure continues...
