Today we left a sunny Berlin, and headed to Dresden. A smaller city 2 hours south of Berlin, closer to the border of the Czech Republic. We had our room till noon so we didn't rush to get out. This was nice as we could pack and relax and not have to jump out of bed right away.
We made our way to the crazy train station and got to look around it a little more then when we first arrived. It is seriously crazy. Many floors and train tracks running different directions, pictures really don't do justice. Instead of being on the seventh or eighth top floor we made our way under ground to the very bottom floor.
These trains we haven't needed to pay a reservation fee. This is great because you don't have to pay extra, but also kind o sucks because it means that you do not have a seat, or two seats beside each other for that matter. This train however was different then most. A single hallway ran on one side of the train and on the other were rooms with 6 chairs in it facing each other this was pretty cool. Was is also great about these trains that don't require reservations is that with our Eurail passes we just need to jump on a train. No ticket required. It's great.
We certainly take good wifi for granted. Something we have come terms with throughout the trip. Starting in London when it wouldn't post blogs but you could sort of do other things, and continuing along the way to many different types of frustration when you can't do anything over wifi.
The place we are staying at now is both a hostel and hotel, not really sure how they separate the two but it is kind of cool to see. Although we wouldn't want to be staying in the hotel if we didn't know it was a attached to a hostel. But it's great for us, we are staying in the hostel side and it seems every hostel utilizes space way better. Probably due to the fact they are designed for travellers like us, but everything just seems to fit better.
We got into Dresden shortly after 3 and it was rainy. We decided that we would do the walk to the hostel, it wasn't pouring, but we decided to use our pack covers as we haven't yet and hopefully won't have to. We haven't had a relax day in a long while so we decided that when we got to our room and settled we would just relax for a bit. This turned into a 3 hour nap that was glorious before venturing to find some dinner. We walked around Dresden for a little bit after dinner before returning home. Where we read a number of chapters of our novel. Which continues to be both entertaining and a good read even out loud. Not that I had any doubt, Ted Dekkers books seems to not dissappoint. Was a good day. Although I decided that I am not a fan of travel days.
And so the adventure continues...
