Second ONLY to Paris

For sure my top 2 cities, Paris and Prague. But Paris takes all the marbles. With each day that we are here, and the more streets that we get to see I just love this place more and more. There are definitely many different areas that have a different atmosphere to them. You can sense this based on who is there walking around, the stores, the tourists, and the architecture. Example, we made our way into the Jewish district today. There wasn't much  that made it Jewish, but there were stars of David on the ground, and more Hebrew written around.

We mainly make our way through the old towns of places, but one thing so cool about Prague, and Paris for that matter, is that even when you are walking in newer areas, the feel of the city and the unique architecture follows.

We started off the day by going to see the dancing house. Very anticlimactic but looks cool. And made our way to a gluten free pizza joint. Fluffy gluten free pizza!!!! Was delicious. From there we continued to walk around, grabbed some soda and found a bench to sit on for a little while before continuing on our way. We found the sun today and it was magical, hope for more days like this. Especially just sitting having a drink in the sun with Luke and a little outside terrace, was the perfect thing to do.

We went to and up, the Petrin observation tower. It was inspired by the Eiffel Tower to exemplify the engineering and building skills of their ancestors. See Prague and Paris are very similar places. This was fun but not at the same time. Certainly worth it for the view you get of Prague, but the journey was not so fun or enjoyable. I am very scared of heights, thankfully there was a double helix staircase, meaning that there was an up staircase and a down stair case that wrapped simultaneously but didn't touch. Was a good thing except for the stupid family that doesn't follow the rules or read and went up the wrong way a terrifying moment. But we made it and climbed the almost 300 steps to get to the top. Great views! But standing at the top you can feel the thing moving, which was very not okay, so we quickly took our pictures and then made the frightening journey down. We made it, and even got a souvenir coin to prove it.

As you can see we have fun together. Which is always a great thing. Especially cause I am never homesick during the day, Luke and I are always having a great time together and enjoying what we are doing and each other's company that even when we talk about home and the people it is as though we just left.

Cutest thing happened, I was outside waiting for Luke and a little girl walked up to me said hi in Czech (which I know it is so that's why I knew) showed me her zootopia figure. And started chatting and talking to me, it was so sweet! Good to know children still like me, missing my nieces and nephews and  playing with them after church on Sunday's. Don't worry I am missing all you adults as well, all my family and friends. Luke is doing better then I am. I have my moments. Top left picture is of the dancing house.

I decided a while ago on the trip but don't think I said anything, that asking where the washroom is is a very awkward thing. WC is a pretty universal acronym(standing for I don't know what) but washroom, bathroom aren't known to many. WC often works but not always because that's not how they say the letters, and saying toilet just feels so wrong. So there is another random thing.

We found the Lennon wall today. So much going on, but pretty neat to see. Could spent a lot of time just looking and reading quotes, or at least attempting to figure them out.

We came across a few other random things today as we seem to do. Another type of cider that I never heard of. Czech Prager Cider was good, with a little hint of a warm apple cider somehow. I mentioned yesterday that we went o the communist museum, well we saw a poster for it today; the little bear with rounds draped over him and a creepy look on his face holding a gun, so sad! An interesting statue that we saw outside the Spanish synagogue, not sure the meaning or the interpretation but it is cool. There was yet another lock bridge and on the other side a funny little man sculpture. The lock bridges seem to be everywhere. In every city. People go as far as to get the locks engraved. But neat as it shows not even a fraction the amount of people that walked where we have.

It was another successful day today in Prague, and finding the sun made it even better. It is still cooling down in the evenings, I would prefer to be wearing a sweater when it gets later, but have no desire to hold it throughout the day. I found myself describing to Luke that my tan is like a perfectly roasted marshmallow. I won't tell you how the rest of that conversation went because being compared to a mellow for other fluffy reasons is not something I tend to share. But it was a funny conversation, that I brought upon myself.

McDonald's here, as we have noticed in other cities as well, is separating McCafe and McDonald's. Separate entries, even a walk up to go window for McCafe, different uniforms and seating areas. It is pretty neat, they are definitely setting a new brand and trying to separate the two in people's minds.

Well, as much as I am sad that we didn't get to go to Auchswitz, it meant that Saturday was a shorter travel day and we had more time in Prague. I am certainly glad that we did. One more day here tomorrow, we have our sights set out on what we want to see and where we want to go back to.

And so the adventure continues...

    1. Hahahaha I may try this with an English accent so if nothing else it keeps the stigma the English have the rest of Europe going. Good one momma!!!

  4. I am very skeptical on the English interpretation though of WC, why with all the languages in Europe the English short form would be the accepted term. Rule Britannia!!
