Old Souls Young Hearts

Today's title is my own making. This I feel describes myself for sure, but I think it is safe to say Luke and I as well. We already are like an old married couple and I wouldn't change that, but things that we interested in that are me think this. But I definitely know that I am an old soul with a young heart.

Quick correction in regards to yesterday's post, the pillows actually suck. At first touch they are great but they are actually cardboard that becomes very clumpy. Now that, that is out of the way, I shall start off by giving a shout out to the man playing cups on the street!! This is an impressive skill, but I just find it hilarious that they will play whatever. I guess anything to be different, and all the power to them, I love that you always come across something different.

We had another fun filled jam packed day! We started it off by going to the breakfast buffet in the hotel. From there we came up and got ready, and planned where our day would take us. The Main Street that we saw all the motorbikes and cars on the other day is in the most modern part of the city. We decided to start the day off with Rick Steves walking tour. Information overload! But I do know what some of these buildings are and I certainly know a lot more about Prague as a city.

Over the course of the day we came across many things. The upside down horse was actually on Ricks walking tour, which is great! I forget the meaning behind it because I was not paying attention as he was talking. We found another umbrella lady, not to far actually from the one yesterday. We strolled into a park and the lights were light bulbs on a pole, thought that was pretty funny as well. Tesla radio, has a stain glass window in an outdoor strip mall. The apple museum I pretty self explanatory, we haven't decided if this is worth going into; although they have a wide range of old macs which is neat.  The car in the picture they actually do tours in, they have a few different types but I think it is sweet!

This is actually that Main Street I mentioned. I look from top of the street(left) and the bottom(right). From the bottom you can see the natural history museum. This is a street that in itself has so much history and meaning to Prague. Many protests happened here, and they got their independence.

Just past the Main Street we continued walking on the street that separated old and new, and what once used to be a mote filled with water. Today is packed with many people and shopping and many high end stores. As we continued walking we stumbled across a gem of a place that we had to go in. Hamleys toy store. Apparently it is from London, be we never saw it there!IT IS AMAZING! They have multi floors, people that show you all the different things you can get. Magic markers, glitter tattoos, even you get to choose what flavour of cotton candy you want from 5 flavours. They have a Merrill go round, and slide in the belly of a snake that you slide out its mouth. A talking tree, a ball pit, a play doh station, race cars, water station. The whole store is laced out in sections, remote controls, dolls, etc. It is awesome!! We could have stayed in here for a very long time! It was super cool! This is definitely a place that I would recommend anyone go in, but especially if you have kids. It is like an amusement park, and you could be occupied for hours.

We also made our way into the Comunism museum. This was very interesting. Again, information overload. But this was both the history of the city of Prague itself, but also of Eastern Europe. Under the rule of Gorbachev, Stalin, and the influences of Karl Marx, and Hitler. They had a few things set up from way back when it was very neat to see and read about.

Along the way we enjoyed some snacks. I LOOOOOOOOVE COSTA! MMMM! It is delicious. Luke and I have been sharing this delicious drinks, even though I have definitely had more, because we have a lot of tasty treats over the days. I also LOOOVE potatoes, anything potatoe, today I had chips off of a stick. They were tasty and crunchy. Luke has a more delicious snack, a blizzard chimney. A tasty soft pretzel baked goodness, with chocolate drizzle filled with ice cream. Describing it really doesn't do justice because it is delicious. Also had a new type of cider today, Carling cider it was called. It was yummy, lime mint flavour, on a hot hot day would be very refreshing.

Okay! The biggest picture seen here in the municipal building. The top right is the Powder tower, that used to be the gate to the city, as well as where they stored gun powder. Underneath that is the church steeple, there really isn't a great full picture of the church due to the fact is is smushed in between buildings. Bottom right corner is the Charles bridge, the bottom left corner is another cathedral and the centre picture is the astronomical clock. The astronomical clock is pretty sweet, it tells many things. What phase the moon is on is included. I was kind of in a bit of a trance today and don't quite remember the rest of what it tells, but there are many things.

We decided that we would adventure to a black light theatre. This is a unique experience that Prague has to offer. It includes black light but also includes many other things, with music and such. No words though so language wasn't an issue. It was a cute and funny performance that we saw, it was called 'Aspects of Alice'. This was about the author of Alice in wonderland Lewis Carrol, and watching Alice grow up and what she experiences, so it really doesn't have anything to do with Alice in wonderland. It is set in Prague, and it is an interesting experience for sure. One of those things you don't really know what to expect going into it and you also do know how to explain coming out. Unique, cute, and funny.

I continue to thoroughly be enjoying Prague. It has so many great buildings everywhere you turn. The weather turned around for us as well. Most of our day was beautiful, slowly getting chillier to when it started to sprinkle. Before we headed to the black light theatre it did start to rain, but luckily we weren't out in for very long and it was finished by the time we were out of it, just had cooled off. The next 2 days that we are here as well look like they should be sunny, so we are definitely looking forward to that!

The biggest downer on the day was eating. Always a process that we always leave till too late. They number the allergens and 1 is usually gluten, or wheat. Unfortunately I don't think that really understand this because everything has a 1 before it, even their salads. Even if it is only a sauce or something added they usually put a star or something extra saying that it can be made without soemthing. That doesn't seem to be the case here. Just makes for an awkward situation because you feel very put on the spot when y ou order something they don't expect because it is the only thing that you can eat. This situation happened today because it is Sunday and the place we wanted to go to was closed and we didn't realize, thus starting the mindlessly wandering search for food. Easier on other days when the gluten free places you look up are open at least till 5 or 6 or something. But anyways that's the past and it is not longer Sunday so we will be able to make it to where we want to go.

The money is still something that is hard to get used to. Especially because the coins that they give you aren't cents. They don't have cents, they are dollar values. It is a crazy thing, that continues to stump us, mostly because they euro has become so familiar and you just know what to give people and what the money looks like, switching all the sudden becomes a challenge.

Drinking in public is something that after almost 2months of being here I still am not used to. It is pretty consistent in the cities that we have gone to that as long as you aren't being reckless or rowdy, drinking on the streets is absolutely okay. Police monitor but they never tell you to pour it out, at least if you being sane. This is one thing that I think if we had back home people would just talk to the extreme, which is unfortunate because it's actually great. The convenience stores sell beers and if you wanna have a beer and watch the sunset all the power to ya, walk and drink along the bridge, no problem. Not that we have done these, but seeing people is constantly confusing.

Lady mullets are a thing in Eastern Europe. I noticed a few in Berlin, and I have noticed many in Prague. Mostly on Tourists, so I don't know what they call their home town but it is not a flattering look. are seen it on a few guys and kids but nothing super crazy, they are more into having 5 dreadlocks that are super long and the rest. Of their hair in a shag. But anyways, it is hard to not stare sometimes because I just really don't see what they see to be a good look about it.

When we were walking after the rain we came across a rainbow, A beautiful one that I am surprised I got such a good picture of it. Also if you haven't caught on by now, I am not a speller and I often don't think through or proof reaD before posting. My autocorrect is sometimes to blame but so am I. We had another great day in Prague and I am so glad that we still have 2 more full days here. Tomorrow we are going to venture to the other side of the bridge and to see more of what there is to see.

And so the adventure continues...
