We walk everywhere. Which is great I won't complain, but it is a lot of just walking and seeing what there is to see, and what everywhere has to offer. Valencia is said to be the third largest city in Spain, which I can see cause we are just seeing a small part. Today we walked the old town of Valencia, which it still quite large. One thing that we have enjoyed doing is just walking the back streets everywhere we go. We are finding that there are some really unique little squares and plazas, as well just lots more to see this way, so we we are trying to avoid major road ways.
This handsome statue is outside of their bull fighting plaza. This is how Spaniards look and dress when they fight Bulls.
We stumbled upon a square today that was packed with people. The largest queuing line we have ever seen. Many, many switch backs and a turn that wraps around a building. We attempted to find out what it was. They were heading into a church as we could read the writing on on the side of the building. We still aren't sure what exactly it was, but we are thinking it is Mary. Regardless there was a massive line to see this statue.
The day started out as beautiful with not a cloud in the sky. Hot, hot, and ended up turning into a rainy half hour and getting beautiful again. With a few puddles to avoid we ended up continuing to meander the streets, and really seeing what Valencia has to offer. We both definitely got some sun. Today, as well as in general a over the trip so far.
A few random things we have seen and learned along the way:
We have decided to name Luke's toilet posts on Instagram blogdegram, as he was feeling he needed his own blog but doesn't want to write anything.
We have seen these posters of popular Netflix Original series characters and they are on posters specifically so that you can face swap with them. That is the whole purpose of the poster. It looks exactly like snapchat does with the face swap setting. It is pretty funny actually that they have so many.
Roller blades are coming back!! We have seen aso many people, mostly in Madrid and Valencia, that are roller blading. I honestly haven't rollerbladed since my early teens, but people seem to do it quite frequently here. It seems for the most part they know how to stop as well, as I would be nervous with the cobblestone and the whole stopping thing.
Valencia is known to Luke as the tomatoe throwing... Place. As that was the event he wishes we were here for. Some time in June they have this massive festival or party or rivalry, we aren't quite sure. But they throw tomatoes at each other. It seems pretty interesting although I hate tomatoes and would hate to have them all over me, and smelling like them constantly.
This is outside one of the castle walls that they have here in Old town.
So far all the hostels that we have booked have been in awesome locations. We have been super close to everything, and also in a good area that we aren't right in the heart of it.
We have plans for tomorrow, but for today we have just enjoyed taking in a new city, and exploring all there is to see.
I must say, Luke and I live a happy life. We laugh together daily. Being best friend first for us was more then just a title. We have so much fun and joke around that for us marriage is fun. We still have a lot to learn and many new chapters in life to live together. Our love and laughter is what gets us through the many days of just us on our trip.
And so the adventure continues...
Tomatoe throwing would most definitely be the ultimate marriage test...YUK, even a pie would be better LOTS of WHIP CREAM Please!
ReplyDeleteBut have to admit would like to watch that as long as they are soft they should'nt hurt to much.
Right?! I agree it would be a sight to see. Not gonna lie everytime we walk by a supermarket I get a little nervous Luke is gonna randomly break out with the need to throw a tomatoe, just to catch me off guard and just to say he did it in Valencia. Even though I know he wouldn't. MMMM! YES!! Pie please!! Now that would be delicious
