I may have said it before, if so I shall say it again police here travel in many different ways. By foot, by bicycle, motorbike, vans, as well as their ghost cars, which are actually in really really nice cars.
As we walked around today we found ourselves remembering all the information we have heard. For instance, when you walk along the side walk, you find yourself walking on where normally would lie the dirt of a tree. Instead it is a soft almost squishy feeling under your feet, this is because the trees that they have planted along major roads are actually trees that can survive in clay. Because of the amount of rain they usually get would cause flooding, the clay helps regulate how much water gets absorbed. The leaves of these trees are also waxy feeling. This is because the tree is self cleaning, so when it rains it can easily clean itself. Pretty neat!
Today we walked around Regent Park and saw Queen Mary's Garden. The park is beautiful and full of so many people, families and friends having picnics. They have these small daisy like looking flowers that grow absolutely everywhere. We think that it is similar to their version of a dandelion. They were all over the place at this park, as if the grass didn't exist. Really is beautiful, pair that with cherry blossom trees it is quite the sight.
We did a lot of walking around today in different areas around London. Through this walking we decided that people on their phones are whole new level of frustrating here. There are tons and tons of people that you are pretty much always bumping people. And when there is someone on their phone in a crowd of people you have no where to go and they literally run right into you because you have no where to move either.
We walked across London Bridge today. From there you get a great view of the Tower Bridge, as well as HMS Belfast. We also have come to the conclusion that people here must drink just always. We started out this morning and the first pub we came across had tons and tons of people outside of it. It is crazy how they are allowed to drink outside and on the streets. All day when we came across any pub or even the cafe bars the streets around them were packed with people. Something that we don't totally understand this, and walking around becomes a little more challenging but it is pretty neat. We think there was a football(soccer) game this morning and that it why it was so busy.
Just as we thought we had the tube figured out, they go and change things. Not sure if it is. Just usually different on the weekend or if it is just this weekend but the routings changed. We still managed to get where we wanted to go (again Luke has mad skills) but still was a bit of a change. It is cute we are close to Paddington Station, and in the station the have a kiosk of the Paddington bear that you can purchase the bear and a bag it is adorable.
One day left in London. Glad that we have had some down days, but definitely looking forward to some go, go days and seeing new places and experiencing new things. Although, I definitely will miss the English accents, as that is fun but will move onto a new accent as well. Definitely wont miss all the smoke that we are walking through. It is rather a lot, and everywhere. We decided that tonight we were going to sit on a patio and eat dinner and people all around us were smoking, sometimes feels like you are ingesting it always.
And so the adventure continues...
They say that when you are in Rome you do as the Romans do.
