An Adventure Waiting to happen
Well this is actually happening, flights are being booked, itinerary is planned, and the packing has begun. For years we have both individually and together thought of what this adventure would look like, and now the time has come for us to actually start to pack and prepare to leave for three and a half months, and there is no way to really prepare for a trip like this. Although we will greatly miss our family and friends, this is really a dream come true. There is still much to be done at home; wrapping up school and finishing work and taking off. An adventure thought about and anticipated for many years; you just go and do, and so we shall. Only 18 more days and this adventure becomes a reality! So the real countdown begins...

ReplyDeleteThe Traveler’s Prayer
ReplyDeleteThe dream began in the minds of two,
Oh to get married, their love was true
A mountain wedding in the Rockies was Grand,
A honeymoon in Maui with their feet in the sand.
An end to the fun, and the work would resume
Engineering demanded the study cocoon,
But the dream to travel, again came alive
As April ended departure arrived,
3 months in Europe, Adventure they said,
Oil and Balsamic, with gluten free bread,
Planes trains and Boats, with a taxi or bus
A hostel or hotel, all the plans, what a fuss
The day of departure arrived oh so quick
A backpack and camera, would do the trick
The 28th day of the month it would be
When he would take the hand of his little sweetie
A smile and a tear as the folks bid farewell
When they return, many stories they’ll tell
Blessings for travel we give you this day
Don’t worry about Roscoe, with us he will stay
The iron ring sparkled as he took her hand
Today they take off but tomorrow they land
The Cities and countries too many to name
Every day an adventure, no two days the same
Best wishes we offer of Joy and delight
Our prayer for your safety each day and each night
The angels we beckon to be at your side
To help you, protect you and to be your guide
The wind at your back and the sun in your face
May the Joy of your friendship enlighten each place
Our prayers we will offer to the Lord each day
For your safe return when you come home to stay
It won’t be the same the whole time you are gone
Until you return we’ll leave the porch light on
On that day in August with smiles we will wait
For the image of you approaching the arrivals gate
A tear once again on that day there may be
As our prayers will be answered again, you will see
Go with the one who brought you to this place
With the prayers of your parents, peace, love and grace.
Love Mom and Dad M.
